Hi, I’m Lauren.
I’m originally from Dorset, in the South West of England. I have been in the beautiful Scottish Borders for 6 years, where the pace and space life offers you here reminds me of my childhood and offers the perfect environment to fuel my creativity. Being creative has always been a solace and a need within me. I always did drawing and painting as a hobby in my youth, and began my working life as a graphic designer, however after becoming a full time mum 10 years ago I took a step back from art, giving me time to reassess what I wanted my art to look like, how I would go about achieving it, and what was possible while still being a mum.
I work mainly in ink and oil pastels, my work tries to embody art movements that I admire / inspire me, such as, impressionist, post-impressionist, the Camden Town Group and the Scottish Colourists. I’m like to take everyday sights, objects, buildings and moments, highlighting them and capturing them in a moment of peace that hopefully make the view feel at peace too.
I’m self-taught, and most of my work is shared online, though I do have pieces displayed in a local café. I also take commissions and sell original artworks and prints for anyone who connects with my style — whether locals, art enthusiasts, or interior decorators looking for a touch of calm and character in a space.
Art, for me, is both a personal escape and a way to share a little slice of the world as I see it. Each piece is an invitation to slow down, notice the details, and enjoy the quiet beauty in everyday life.
